Individuals who are selected as FIVE STAR Wealth Managers do not pay a fee to be included in the research or the final list of wealth managers, however, there is a fee associated with the use of the FIVE STAR logo and other marketing materials. Wealth Managers who are included on the FIVE STAR Wealth Manager list must meet the following criteria: Must have at least five years of experience in the financial services industry, must certify that their license(s) have never been suspended or revoked by a regulating authority, must certify that they have not had more than three customer complaints filed against them with a regulating authority where at least one complaint resulted in a settlement payment by them.

In 2009, Timothy was recognized for his philanthropic efforts by Pacific West Financial Group and was presented with an award.

In 1996, Timothy was recognized for his charitable efforts in advocating for the victims of domestic violence and was awarded by Northwest Family Life, a Seattle domestic violence counseling organization.

In 1996, Timothy was recognized for his charitable efforts and received an award, entitled "Angel in Seattle", which was presented by The Intiman Theatre and The AT&T Company.
